The aim and objectives of the AGT training programme are to ensure that personnel preparing for a gas tester role are equipped with the knowledge to safely conduct tests for flammable gases in preparation hot work in the workplace. Delegates will also learn about relevant legislative requirements, gas measuring and monitoring equipment and document gas test results.
Authorized Gas Tester means:
- A person who appointed by the employer to carry out atmosphere test.
- Had attended a training course on safe working in confined space for Authorized Gas Tester and Entry Supervisor and
- Passed the test or examination of Authorized Gas Tester
- Update his knowledge on the hazards that may be faced during entry, including information on the mode, signs and symptoms, and consequences of the exposure;
- Identify all chemical hazards and recommends control measures to ensure safe entry;
- Be familiar with all confined space entry equipment used, for example, emergency breathing apparatus, a man riding winch, tripod, etc.
- The atmosphere shall be tested by an Authorized Gas Tester initially in the pre-entry stage.
- Continuous monitoring may be done by an Authorized Gas Tester or an authorized entrant.
- The continuous monitoring of atmospheric condition shall be carried out consistent with the hazards identified and the risk assessment.
